Program Basics

· Taking Strides is an ongoing physical activity program that can be started and stopped at anytime. The only restriction being that you must begin the program on a Monday.
· You will be awarded prizes for achieving certain milestones set throughout the program.  
· Your daily steps will be recorded with a pedometer. Pedometers can be purchased or checked out (click here to print a Word 2000 document) from Health Iowa. You also have the option to buy one on your own. A pedometer from Health Iowa is $20 (includes security strap)
· Click here to print a step log to track your steps when away from your computer!
· If you want a free fitness assessment contact Health Iowa at 319.335.8394 to set up a time.

Here is how Taking Strides Works:

· Login
· Scroll down to baseline week
· The Monday you start put on your pedometer and start walking
· Track your steps with a printable step tracker
· Enter these numbers online at the end of each week
· Based on your current physical activity, a goal will be set for you to achieve in the proceeding week.
· You will continue to track your steps, enter them online, and develop weekly goals.
· Your current week's goal and the number of week's you have achieved your goal will always be present when you log in.
· You will be awarded a prize for achieving certain milestones set throughout the program.
